Cara Reed, PsyD
Cara Reed, PsyD is a licensed psychologist who provides individual therapy and assessment to children, adolescents, and adults throughout the state of Iowa. She is especially passionate about working with college-age students as well as children/adolescents and their families. Dr. Reed operates from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) framework, and she also has training in exposure and response prevention (ERP). Her clinical focus includes treating generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, selective mutism, and OCD. Her goal is to provide a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space to meet you where you are and support you toward the life you want to live.
Dr. Reed conducts psychological assessment with children (as young as age 7) and adults to provide diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations. She most often assesses for concerns related to ADHD. Other common presenting concerns for assessment include behavioral concerns and/or emotional/personality issues.
Dr. Reed earned her doctoral degree from Indiana State University in 2022. She completed her predoctoral internship at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital where she worked in a Child and Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Central Iowa Psychological Services.
Outside of work, Cara enjoys spending time with her husband, hanging out with friends, going for runs, watching a good documentary, and reading on her Kindle!
